(INDIANAPOLIS) – After a stellar performance at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships, Walsh's Brianna Coy has been named this week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Athlete of the Week. The senior from Canton helped the Cavaliers to a first place finish in the Division II / NAIA field and would have been second overall if all the divisions were grouped together.
Coy crossed the finish line at 21:42.70 to finish fifth out of all 307 runners and first of those from the Division II / NAIA schools. It was the 22nd-best time in G-MAC history.
She is the second Walsh runner to collect the weekly honors for cross country this year as Coy joins Andra Lehotay who was the top Maroon and Gold thin clad at the National Catholic Meet earlier this season.
Coy is an alumna of GlenOak High School, the location of the G-MAC Cross Country Championships this year on Saturday, Nov. 3. Walsh will compete this week in a conference crossover hosted by Lewis University.
