(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – It was a perfect weekend for the Walsh volleyball team as it cruised by visiting Alderson Broaddus in three sets Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (7-6, 4-1) faced little trouble from the Battlers (6-8, 2-5) as they took the games by scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-23.
The Walsh attack was clicking on all cylinders as well. The Cavaliers pounded down 43 kills in the contest and were led by Lauren Loucks with a match-best 16. She nearly equaled AB's output of 17 by herself. Six of those kills came in the first set alone with three coming in a stretch where Walsh extended its lead from 13-11 to 21-12.
Defense was also a big part of limiting Alderson Broaddus as the Maroon and Gold stuffed eight of the Battlers' attacks. Three came consecutively during the aforementioned rally to put Walsh up 19-12. Amber King led the team in that department as she was up on four of them. Justine Coffman rebuffed three which included two by herself.
The Cavs will be back in action on Tuesday for their last road contest of the month. Walsh will head to Tiffin for a 7 p.m. start before closing September with four home matches.
