Volleyball Starts Season at Illinois-Springfield

(SPRINGFIELD, Ill.) – The 2018 season gets underway tomorrow as the Walsh volleyball team travels west to play in the Capital Classic. The Cavaliers will play four matches at hosting Illinois-Springfield, the first of which is against the Prairie Stars tomorrow at 3 p.m.

From there Walsh will follow up with a contest against former conference foe Northern Michigan. Day 2 sees the Maroon and Gold playing McKendree and Missouri Western State.

The bulk of the opponents are new for the Cavaliers. The Wildcats of Northern Michigan have been the most frequent opponent as a result of conference play in the GLIAC. NMU is also the only team of the four Walsh played last season.

The last time Walsh played Illinois-Springfield came in 2015, Head Coach Kassie Kadera's first year at the helm. The Cavs and McKendree last played in 2013. This will be the first meeting for Walsh and Missouri Western State.
