  • Volleyball Signs Two Players, Adds to Coaching Staff

    Head Coach Kassie Kadera has announced a couple of new signings as well as an addition to the coaching staff. Shymara Dykes and Alyssa Hill will join the squad next season, while Alli Cudworth joins the staff as a graduate assistant.

    The 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Volleyball postseason awards have been announced after voting conducted by the league's coaches. Sophomore Paola Ferrario was selected to the ALL-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team.

    Walsh completed the trifecta and sweep of Malone with another 3-0 victory over its cross-town rivals at Osborne Hall on Election Day. The Cavaliers (10-17) defeated the Pioneers (7-23) by scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-18 to equal last year’s win total.

    A strong performance by Gina Kramer wasn’t enough as Walsh fell to Findlay in straight sets at Croy Gymnasium on Friday evening. The Cavaliers (9-16, 2-11) battled close, but fell to the Oilers (19-7, 12-3) by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 26-24.

    Walsh fell to Tiffin in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-18 in GLIAC action on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 9-15 overall and 2-10 in the GLIAC while the Dragons improved to 16-10 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

    Hosting future G-MAC rival Alderson Broaddus, Walsh swept the opposition 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 26-24. The win brings the Cavaliers (9-13) within one of last year’s win total. The Battlers fall to 3-22 on the season.
  • Volleyball Battles, But Falls To Cards

    Walsh lost by three points during the first two sets (25-22, 25-22), but bounced back to win match three by the final score of 25-23. However, Saginaw Valley State took set four to collect their 13th victory on the season.

The Cavaliers (8-12, 2-7) dropped the first two by scores of 25-21 and 25-15 before pulling off the next three 25-16, 25-14, 15-13 against the Lakers (2-19, 0-10).

    The Walsh volleyball team fell to visiting Michigan Tech 3-1 in GLIAC action on Friday evening. Despite falling in the first two sets 25-14 and 25-18, the Cavaliers (5-10, 1-6) took the third 28-26 and was close to forcing a fifth, but the Huskies (7-9, 4-4) took the fourth 25-20.

    Walsh’s five-match home win streak was snapped at the hands of Hillsdale in a five-set thriller on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (5-9, 1-5) took the first and fourth sets, while the Chargers (12-2, 5-1) won the second, third, and fifth.

    With a straight-set win, Walsh put together perhaps its finest match of the season as it took down Northwood Friday evening. The Cavaliers (5-8, 1-4) picked up their first GLIAC win by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-14 over the Timberwolves (9-5, 3-3).
  • Four Reach Double Figures In Four-Set Win Over Malone

    Walsh returned to the win column once again in impressive fashion as it defeated arch rival Malone in four sets on Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers (4-8) took the first two sets easily by scores of 25-14 and 25-17 before the Pioneers (3-12) scored their lone win by a 25-16 margin in the third. Walsh came back and closed out Malone with a 25-21 win in the fourth.

    Walsh fell to Missouri-St. Louis and Trevecca Nazarene in the final two matches of the Scott Jones Classic on Saturday. The Cavaliers (3-4) will now start conference play this week with Lake Erie next up on the docket in a road contest on Friday.

    The Walsh volleyball team completed a successful weekend with a pair of wins over Davis & Elkins 3-0 and Fairmont State 3-1 in the Cavalier Classic Volleyball Tournament Saturday. The Cavaliers improve to 3-1 overall while both the Senators and the Falcons went 1-3 on the weekend to start the season.
  • Cavs Split Opening Day Of Tournament

    Walsh opened up the season with a split against Urbana and Glenville State in the Cavalier Classic Volleyball Tournament which takes place today and tomorrow. The Cavaliers (1-1) dropped to the Blue Knights in straight sets to open the day, but recovered nicely with a 3-0 demolishing of the Pioneers later in the evening.
