(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) Walsh (3, 23, 3-15) closed the season on a winning note by defeating Tiffin University (12-15, 6-12) in four sets in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. Walsh won by set scores of 25-21, 16-25, 25-17, 25-22.
Walsh led from start-to-finish in the opening set. They held their largest leads at 11-6 and 22-17. Tiffin would rally and close to 18-17, but would get no closer. Gina Kramer had six kills in the first set.
Tiffin knotted the match with a 25-16 win in the second set. Walsh led early and held its last lead at 11-9 on a Kramer kill. Tiffin would take the lead for good at 14-13.
Walsh would take a 2-1 lead with a 25-17 win in set number three. Tiffin held its only lead at 1-0, as Walsh would take control. The Cavs led 10-7 when they went on a 10-4 run to pull away.
The Cavs held early leads in the fourth set, but fell behind 11-8 as Tififn snapped a 4-4 deadlock with a 7-4 run. Walsh would take the lead for good at 12-11 on a Haley Howell service ace. The Cavs led the rest of the way, and led 23-19 when the Dragons rallied and cut the led to 24-23 before a Kelsey Snider kill ended the Dragons surge and gave the match to Walsh.
Kramer led Walsh with 14 kills, Snider and Liza Pflugradt each had nine and Kelly Miller had eight. Howell handed out 42 assists and Kaitlin Bronikowski led everyone with 23 digs. Snider added 14 digs and senior Dena Solly had 10.
