(HILLSDALE, Mich.) Walsh (2-22, 2-14) fell in four sets at Hillsdale College (11-12, 9-7) by the scores of 18-25, 17-25, 25-20 and 16-25 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. The Cavs close the season next week at home with Ohio Dominican University of Friday (7pm) and Tiffin University on Saturday (3pm).
Walsh held its last lead in the first set at 6-3. After surrenderring the lead the Cavs kept close, with the final margin representing Hillsdale's largest lead.
Set number two was close with the Cavs holding their last lead at 14-12. Walsh trailed 19-16 when the Chargers closed the set with a 6-1 run.
Walsh climbed back into the match with a 25-20 win in the third set. The set featured nine ties, with Walsh taking the lead for good at 13-12.
Hillsdale halted the Cavs comeback with a 25-16 win to capture the match in four sets. Walsh held its last lead on a Gina Kramer kill at 4-3. The set remained tight as Walsh trailed 17-15 after a Hillsdale service error. It was at that point that the Chargers took control with an 8-1 run to win the set and match,
Kelsey Snider paced the Cavs with 13 kills and 19 digs. Kramer added 12 kills and 4 block assists. Liza Pflugradt added eight kills and Haley Howell seven. Howell also dished out 36 assists. Kaitlin Bronikowski had a match-high 25 digs. Kelly Miller added five block assists.
