(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh defeated visiting Lake Erie in convincing fashion with a 3-0 shutout of its rivals to the north. The Cavaliers (2-19, 2-11) won the sets by scores of 25-18, 25-13, and 25-20 over the Storm (2-20, 0-13).
The first set was even for the first 10 points before the Cavs rallied to score 10 of the next 11 points to break the game open en route to the 25-18 win. The second set was all Walsh as it jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back.
The third set played much closer as Lake Erie held a 16-13 advantage, but the Cavs came back and scored 10 consecutive points to take control. The Storm countered with three in a row to make it 23-19, but the Cavs closed out the next two points to win the match.
Kelsey Snider led the offense with 13 kills on 27 total attempts for a 44 percent success rate. She reached volleyball's version of a double-double with 12 digs. Kaitlin Bronikowski earned top defensive honors with 13 digs of her own. Katy Frease also played well on the offensive end with nine kills of her own. Haley Howell tallied 35 assists and eight digs.
The Cavs are off until Tuesday when they entertain their rival Malone. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
