(AURORA, Ill.) Walsh (1-17) fell twice at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Volleyball Tournament in Aurora, Illinois today. The Cavs meet Southern Indiana in their final match on Saturday at 2pm.
Walsh lost in four sets to Quincy (5-15) by the scores of 19-25, 25-21, 25-14, and 27-25. Walsh led from start-to-finish in taking the opening set. Walsh held its last lead in the second set at 14-13, and the last tie was at 16-16. The Cavs would close to within 21-20 before falling 25-21. In the third set, Quincy used a 10-4 run while leading 9-7 to taking control in winning 25-14. The fourth set was tight. Walsh led 16-3 when Quincy went on a 6-0 run to lead 19-16. The Cavs would rally and force ties at 19, 20 and 22-all and led at 24-23, before falling 27-25. Kelly Miller led Walsh with 10 kills and a .238 hitting percentage. Miller also had three blocks. Gina Kramer had eight kills, Kelsey Snider seven and Katy Frease six with a .385 hitting percentage. Haley Howell had 35 assists and Kaitlin Bronikowski recorded 20 digs. Devin Hummel added 14 digs and five kills and Emilee Muzechuk had 11 digs.
llinois Springfield (6-12) bested the Cavs in three sets by the scores of 25-7, 25-19 and 25-20. Liza Pflugradt paced Walsh with eight kills and a .471 hitting percentage. Kramer added seven kills and Howell had 26 assists.
