Walsh Opens GLIAC Play Looking for First Win

Walsh (0-4) continues their road swing in search of their first win, when they open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Tiffin University on Friday night at 7 pm. The Cavs then travel to Columbus to meet Ohio Dominican University on Saturday in a 2 pm matinee.

Walsh lost all four matches at the Tony Banner Memorial Tournament hosted by Clarion University last weekend. Sophomore setter Haley Howell was selected to the All-Tournament team, averaging 8.0 assists for the tournament. Kelsey Snider led Walsh with 2.5 kills per set and Gina Kramer averaged 2.42 kills. Kaitlin Bronikowski played well on the backline and averaged 4.21 digs.

Tiffin is 2-1 after playing in the Flint Hills Resources Alaska Nanook Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Dragons won both matches against Alaska Fairbanks. Lu Phillips averaged 4.3 kills and 3.5 digs. Taylor Lattimore averaged 5.2 digs and Tiffany Buchinger handed out 11.20 assists. Walsh leads the all-time series 30-9.

Ohio Dominican (1-4) went 1-3 at the Dunn Hospitality Invitational at Southern Indiana. The Panthers defeated West Alabama for their lone win. They fell to 1-4 after falling in four sets to Cedarville University on Tuesday night. ODU plays host to Malone on Friday night. Tory Thompson has led the Panther attack averaging 3.63 kills and has 2.58 digs.  Lauren Ridler averages a team-best 4.37 digs. Kelsey Fortney and Ashlin Aiker have split setting duties. Fortney is averaging 5.11 assists and Aiker 4.0.Walsh leads the all-time series 47-12-1.
