NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Just like the men's track and field team, the Walsh women's track and field team began the outdoor season at Muskingum University in the Amy Adams Memorial Invite on Friday (March 22) and Saturday (March 23).
The women finished sixth of 14 teams with 59.5 points. Overall, five placed in the top four and 12 within the top eight.
Juanita Gray was sixth overall in the 100 meter dash finals after running a 13.29.
Cassidi Bookless earned a point for the Cavaliers after finishing eighth in the 400 meter run, running a time of 1:02.31.
Jetaiya Smith paced the field in the 800 meter run, winning with a time of 2:22.17.
Skyler Stewart tied for fifth in the high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters.
Fisher added a fourth place finish to her resume along with the second place finish in the relay. She jumped 9.93 meters in the triple jump, for fourth place.
Morrisa Mallory was second in the shot put, throwing 13.00 meters and she also finished fifth in the discus throw. Her fifth place discus throw was 35.25 meters.
Walsh had four women finish in the top eight for the hammer throw. Malia Turley led the way in second, throwing 52.46 meters (a stadium record). Olivia King was fifth with a 41.96 meter throw, Annie Fahey came in sixth, throwing 41.92 meters. Mariah Porter rounded out the fantastic four in seventh, tossing 41.13 meters.
The Cavaliers will compete at the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State, starting next Friday (March 29).
