(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh Track & Field team opened the weekend hosting its only home meet of the season in the Walsh Invitational. Despite the meet being moved up a day, plenty of Cavaliers still found themselves with impressive performances throughout the day.
On the women's side, Walsh took the top spots in the 1,500 meter run with the top four placings. Sarah Berger easily won the event with a 4:42.21. Alexa Leppelmeier was third with a time of 4:53.34. Bre Bakan was fourth with a time of 4:56.14. Caitlyn Hadley was fifth with a time of 4:58.90.
Andra Lehotay won the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.66. Leppelmeier was sixth with a time of 2:22.25. Megan Soehnlen was seventh with a time of 2:24.40. Chelsea Johnson won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:23.65.
Jetaiya Smith finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 58.05. Kaitlyn Barber finished tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 2.82 meters. Karley Dougherty was third in the javelin with a throw of 37.80 meters. Malia Turley was fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 43.23 meters.
Meredith Fennell was fifth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.70. The Cavaliers' 4x100 meter relay team of Kotoch, Foley, Jones, and Fennell finished seventh with a time of 50.17. Christine Fiegl finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.43 meters. Morrisa Mallory finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 12.67 meters.
A select group of Cavaliers will also be in action tomorrow as they take part in the Bison Classic at Bucknell.
