Women's Tennis Takes Daemen For First Win Of Season

(AMHERST, N.Y.) - Walsh picked up its first win of the season with a 7-2 victory of former conference rival Daemen at Ellicott Tennis Courts on Saturday. The Cavaliers are now 1-2 on the year, while the Wildcats are 4-5.

Walsh opened the match with wins in two of three doubles matches. Maria Kacalova and Katarina Razum won 8-4 at second doubles, and Victoria Ambrosio and Sofia Khairutdinova posted an 8-1 win at third doubles.

On the singles side, Kacalova defeated Giovanna Paschoalin 6-4, 6-4 at second singles. Clara Drasch won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles. Raszum defeated Gretchen Ringer 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles. Khairutdinova defeated Jessica Robins with identical 6-2 scores at fifth singles, and Ambrosio shut the door for the Cavaliers defeating Morgan Park at sixth singles, 6-1 and 6-1.

The Cavs are back in action tomorrow as they travel north to take on Niagara University.
