  • Women's Tennis, Five Players Earn ITA All-Academic Honors

    Both Walsh tennis teams as well as seven players between the two squads were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with All-Academic status today. Walsh was one of five GLIAC schools that had both teams earn the honor.

  • Women's Tennis Wraps Up Season at IUP

    The Walsh women’s tennis team ended its season with an 8-1 loss to talented Indiana (Pa.) at the Maple Street Courts Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers complete the campaign at 7-19 while the Crimson Hawks improved to 15-1.
  • Softball Swept By Eagles
    April 13, 2016
    Walsh was swept by Ashland in GLIAC softball action by scores of 5-2 and 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon at Brookside Park. The Cavaliers fell to 15-20 overall and 6-8 in the conference while the Eagles improved to 19-16 overall and 9-5 in the GLIAC.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team fell to Division III No. 38 Oberlin by a score of 7-2 at the Heisman Field House on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers fall to 7-18 on the season while the Yeowomen improved to 11-7.

    In their final home match of their collegiate careers, Asia Harris and Arina Kravitz had remarkable days as they helped Walsh to a 7-2 win over Davis & Elkins. The Cavaliers improved to 7-17 on the season with the win against the future conference rival Senators who are now 6-10.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team was defeated by Rockhurst 7-2 in the final match of the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover on Saturday. The Cavaliers dropped to 6-17 on the season while the Hawks improved to 6-4.

    Friday Walsh was paired up with Maryville in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover hosted by Lewis University, but the Cavaliers fell by a score of 7-2. The Cavaliers fall to 6-16 on the season while the Saints improved to 4-5.

    In the first match of the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover, Walsh fell to host Lewis by a score of 7-2 at the Five Star Tennis Center Thursday evening. The Cavaliers fall to 6-15. The Flyers, ranked No. 8 in the region, are now 6-3.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team made quick work of future conference foe Alderson Broaddus with a 9-0 shutout at the Hall of Fame Courts on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers (5-12) picked up their first win in six matches, while the Battlers (1-6) have dropped their last four contests.

    Walsh couldn’t overcome a strong start by Ferris State after doubles play and fell 5-1 on the second day of the GLIAC Tournament on Saturday. The Bulldogs (9-4) took all three doubles matches en route to the win.

    Walsh was looking to avenge a loss earlier in the season to top-seeded Grand Valley State but couldn’t match the talented Lakers in the quarterfinals of the GLIAC Tournament. The Cavaliers (4-8) dropped all three doubles contests as the Lakers (11-1) won 5-0.
  • Walsh Set For GLIAC Tournament at Midland

    The seeds have been finalized for the 2015 GLIAC Women’s Tennis Tournament beginning Friday, October 23rd at the Greater Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich. Grand Valley State is the No. 1 seed after the Lakers split the regular season GLIAC title with No. 2 Northwood as both programs went 10-1 in league play.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team clinched its third consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance with as it cruised by Ashland by a score of 8-1 at the Lexington Racquet Club. The Cavaliers (4-7, 4-7) swept all three doubles matches against the Eagles (2-9, 2-9) en route to the victory.

    Walsh couldn’t pull out a victory in its final home contest of the fall season as Ferris State won 6-3 on a sunny Sunday morning at the Klekotka Tennis Complex. The Cavaliers fall to 3-7 both overall and in the GLIAC while the Bulldogs are 7-3 in the same categories.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team faced some tough competition today as it fell to undefeated Grand Valley State 7-2 in GLIAC action. The Cavaliers drop to 3-6 on the year both overall and in the conference. The Lakers stand at 10-0 overall and 9-0 in the conference.
  • Cavs Fall To Cards In Close GLIAC Contest

    In a battle of two teams battling in the middle of the GLIAC standings, Walsh dropped a close contest 5-4 to visiting Saginaw Valley at the indoor Hall of Fame Courts. The Cavaliers (3-5, 3-5) and Cardinals (5-3, 5-3) split the singles matches, but SVSU took two of three doubles matches for the victory.

    In Walsh’s return to dual action, it ran into a talented Northwood squad and fell by a score of 8-1 at the Hall of Fame Courts after the match was moved indoors because of rain. The Cavaliers are now 3-4 both overall and in the conference. The Timberwolves improved to 7-1 in the same categories.
  • Bondareva Falls In Quarters at ITA Regional Tournament

    Daria Bondareva (Jr., St. Petersburg, Russia/HS) advanced to the quarterfinals before she was defeated in a tiebreaker in the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Tournament Saturday. She was Walsh’s furthest advanced competitor in any bracket in the tournament.
  • Logunova and Bondareva Impress at ITA Regionals

    Sofya Logunova (Jr., Prague, Czech Republic) and Daria Bondareva (Jr., St. Petersburg, Russia/HS) had a spectacular opening day of the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Indianapolis this weekend. Both players earned seeds in the A Singles Main bracket with Logunova at No. 6 and Bondareva at No. 8. On top of that, both players won both opening matches to go unbeaten in singles play
  • Women's Tennis Comes From Behind At Findlay

    The Walsh women’s tennis team rebounded from yesterday’s loss with a 5-4 defeat of Findlay in come-from-behind fashion. The Cavaliers evened their record at 3-3 both overall and in the GLIAC. The Oilers drop to 0-6 in the same categories.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team had a tough go at Tiffin today as it fell 8-1 in GLIAC action at the PM Gillmore Courts. The Cavaliers fall to 2-3 both overall and in the GLIAC while the Dragons improve to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

    The Walsh women’s tennis team evened its record with a 7-2 defeat of visiting Lake Superior State inside at the Hall of Fame Courts Saturday morning. The Cavaliers (2-2, 2-2) had little trouble with the Lakers (0-3, 0-2) as they won two of the three doubles matches before they coasted to five wins in singles play.
