Women's Soccer Defeats Senators 3-1

ELKINS, W. Va. - The Walsh University women's soccer team traveled to Davis and Elkins College to take on the Senators on Saturday (September 14). The Cavaliers defeated the Senators 3-1 for their third win of the season.

Walsh took the lead in the 17th minute when Hannah Bowman stole the ball and assisted Olivia Peters for the first goal of the game. Peters then assisted Brianna Sanborn on the cross from the right side for the second goal of the game in the 55th minute.

The Senators answered with a goal in the 65th minute, but the Cavaliers secured the win with a goal not even a minute later when Alisha Himes took the free kick and Sanborn scored off a header.

Sanborn and Bowman lead the Cavaliers so far with two goals a piece on the season.

Mickey McClanahan recorded the win from goal with three saves. The Cavalier defense aided McClanahan by only allowing four shots on goal throughout the contest.

The Maroon and Gold will take on Ferris State on Thursday (September 19) at home in their last game before starting conference play.
