(MARIETTA, Ohio) - It's no surprise that Olivia Peters was involved in both Cavalier goals today as she provided the assist to Brianna Sanborn for the first Walsh goal of the afternoon and scored the winning goal on a PK in overtime as No. 3 Walsh upset No. 2 Trevecca Nazarene in the G-MAC semifinals.
The Cavs went down 1-0 in the first half as Trevecca's Lidiya Ogorodnik scored in the 23rd minute, but came back and tied the game in the 57th minute off a Sanborn goal, assisted by Peters. Peters then scored the winning goal off a PK in the 95th minute to secure the Cavalier victory. That marks 13 goals on the season for Sanborn and eight for Peters.
Walsh's defense stifled the Trojan offense as they only allowed two shots on goal. Mickey McClanahan took care of business in goal when the Trojan's did get past the defense, as she contributed a save and recorded the win.
The Cavs will face No. 1 Ohio Valley on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the G-MAC championship. Walsh and OVU last met on October 13, when the Cavs defeated the Fighting Scots 2-1.
