Cavs Get Clean Sheet Against AB On Senior Day

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh recorded another shutout with a 4-0 victory over Alderson Broaddus on Senior Day at Milazzo Field on Saturday. It was the 11th clean sheet of the season for the Cavaliers (13-3, 10-3), eighth in the G-MAC games, and second of the season against the Battlers (3-11-2, 2-9-2).

The defense shined once again and limited the opposition to just five shots, one of which was on goal that was saved by senior Dani Shambaugh who played the second half.

The Cavaliers started the scoring just 15 minutes in when Olivia Peters found the back of the net on an assist from Alisha Himes. It was her team-leading 12th goal of the season. She recorded her 36th point of the year on the next goal as she paired with Melissa Shoff to assist on a goal by Brianna Sanborn, her eighth, for the 2-0 lead at 27:47.

The score remained there until the second half when Corynne Swift scored on an assist from Brianna Sanborn on a through-pass up the middle. Shoff celebrated her senior day with an unassisted goal in the 61st minute to complete the scoring.

Walsh outshot the Battlers 18-5 and held a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Cavaliers will close out the regular season against their rival Malone on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. with the G-MAC seedings for the conference tournament being made available later that night.
