(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Olivia Peters scored both goals in Walsh's 2-1 victory at Lake Erie on Thursday afternoon to keep the Maroon and Gold undefeated. The Cavaliers are now 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the G-MAC, while the Storm dropped to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Peters' first goal came in the 12th minute as a shot narrowly hit the inside of the right post and bounced in. Lake Erie eventually equalized in the 32nd minute after the Cavs' defense attempted to clear the ball, but a bad deflection bounced off Carley Kandel and trickled into the back of the net.
Walsh continued to pepper Storm goalie Marissa Brannon with shots, but it wasn't until the 67th minute that Peters found the back of the net for the game-winner.
Overall, the Cavaliers outshot Lake Erie 26-6. The Storm's shots were evenly split between both halves while Walsh took 16 in the first and 10 in the second. Of those, 12 of them were on goal.
On the opposite end, Mickey McClanahan made the saves when needed with one in the first and two in the second.
The Cavs also dominated in corner kicks via a 6-0 margin.
Walsh will now head to Pepper Pike to take on Ursuline on Saturday. The Arrows entered Thursday tied for fourth place in the conference with Lake Erie with nine points. Walsh is currently second in the G-MAC with 15 points.
