(HAMMOND, Ind.) – The Walsh women's soccer team continued their offensive tear as it defeated Purdue Northwest 6-0. The Cavaliers remain undefeated on the season with a record of 3-0, while the Pride dropped to 0-2.
The scoring started early for the Cavs as Alexis Meffert found the back of the net in the third minute for her third goal on the season. Olivia Peters followed quickly behind with her second goal of the season in the 17th minute. Peters later fed Corynn Swift for Walsh's third score and her second of the season. The Cavs closed out the first half up by that same score.
Brianna Sanborn wasted no time starting off the second half with her second goal of the season. Alexis Meffert added to her goal total after Peters found her for her third goal on the season. Natalie Dignan closed out the offensive performance by Walsh when she scored her second goal of the season in the 74th minute.
Mickey McClanahan recorded the win for the Cavaliers to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Cavaliers have now recorded 11 shutouts in their last 21 games. The defense did well in limiting any opportunity by the Pride as the hosts were held without a single shot.
Walsh will travel down to West Virginia this upcoming week. The Cavs will take on Davis & Elkins on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Alderson Broaddus Saturday at 4 p.m. for their G-MAC openers.
