(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – In battle between the two remaining unbeaten teams in conference play, Walsh fell just short against Lake Erie by a score of 16-11 on a rainy Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (5-3, 4-1) had their five-game winning streak snapped in the process thanks to the Storm (5-2, 3-0).
The game started out well for the Maroon and Gold who opened the game with the first three scores thanks to a pair of goals by Jenny Spragg sandwiched around one by Sarah McCormick. Lake Erie responded with the next three, but the Cavs quickly regained the lead and led for the remainder of the half.
Control of the game remained in Walsh's favor through halftime and the early part of the second half as Emma Armour put Walsh up 8-5 despite being down a player, but the Storm proceeded to go on a 6-0 run to take control of the game.
Walsh's offense was well-balanced once again with five players scoring multiple goals. McCormick led the way with two goals and three assists for five points. She helped give Walsh multiple possessions as well with seven draw controls. Armour and Spragg both added three points with two goals and an assist for each player.
The Cavs will look to get back into the win column this Tuesday when they host Lourdes University at 5 p.m.
