(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The final home game of the season was a good one for Walsh as it never trailed in a 14-9 victory over Alderson Broaddus at Vasco Field on Tuesday. The Cavaliers improved to 5-11 with one game to go while the Battlers dropped even to 8-8.
Lane Brunkala and Maria Nobile put the Maroon and Gold on the board first with a pair of goals in the first 65 seconds of play. After the Battlers tied the game up, Brunkala scored followed by a pair of goals by Emma Armour to give the Cavs a 5-2 lead.
Alderson Broaddus answered again and tied the game at five, but Walsh answered with two Brunkala goals sandwiched around a goal by Amour.
That gave the Cavaliers an 8-5 at halftime. Maria Nobile scored the first goal in the second half to give Walsh a four-goal lead. It proved useful as AB answered with another run of three consecutive goals.
Both teams split the next two scores before Walsh iced the game with the final four goals.
Brunkala had an impressive game with four goals on sixh shots. Both Armour and Nobile finished with three goals each.
Walsh will now head up to Michigan where it will close the season at Grand Valley State on Saturday. First draw is scheduled for 6 p.m.
