(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh women's lacrosse team had its work cut out for them as it was defeated by No. 9 Grand Valley State 21-1 at Vasco Field Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-7 in the conference. The Lakers improved to 7-3 on the season and remained unbeaten in the GLIAC at 5-0.
The Lakers scored early and often with three goals in the first two minutes and five in the first five. By halftime, Grand Valley led 13-0.
Walsh eventually got on the scoreboard with 5:03 to go in the game after Maria Nobile picked up a loose ball on a saved free position shot and found an open Becky Parker who slipped it past the Lakers' goalkeeper.
The Cavaliers were limited on the offensive side as Grand Valley controlled the time of possession throughout and outshot Walsh 36-10.
The Cavaliers hit the road for their next two games. They will start with Indianapolis next Friday with a start time scheduled for 5 p.m.
