NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The defending G-MAC champions will add two freshmen and a sophomore Division I transfer for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Incoming freshman, Majestic Sales, is the sister of First Team All-Conference holder Mayci Sales. Incoming freshman, Abby Hickey, will join her brother Sam in the G-MAC as he will be a senior on the Ohio Dominican men's basketball team. Kate Bauhof rounds out the incoming class as a Division I transfer from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. "We are really thrilled about the addition of Abby, Kate, and Majestic. They are a hard-working, competitive, high character group that fit into our culture perfectly," said Head Women's Basketball Coach Kate Bruce.
Kate Bauhof (York Catholic High School/St. Francis College)
Bauhof ended her high school career with 1,385 points in only three seasons (including a 41-point game), as she missed her senior season due to injury. She averaged 22.6 points per game during her sophomore season and 19.5 points per game during her junior season. She connected for 60 three-pointers in both her sophomore and junior seasons. Bauhof holds the Pennsylvania State playoff record for three-pointers made in a game with nine and was a finalist for Miss PA Basketball. She was named Second Team All-State following her sophomore season and First Team All-State following her junior season. During her time at St. Francis College, she appeared in 30 games for the Terriers, with a season-high 18 points in a win over Chicago State and a season-high 10 assists in a win over Mercy. "Kate is a very talented basketball player. She is a dynamic player who has a knack for scoring the basketball. She has great ball handling skills and terrific range which makes her capable of playing point guard or shifting over to the shooting guard position for us," said Bruce.
Abby Hickey (Whitmer High School)
Hickey shined during her senior season, averaging 13.6 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 2.2 assists per game. She ranks third for most three-pointers made in a career and ranks in the top ten for career points at Whitmer. She was named All-League First Team and All-District First Team following her junior and senior seasons. She was also named All-Ohio Honorable Mention following her junior and senior seasons. "Abby is a tremendous shooter. She will really help stretch out the floor with her size and quick release. She is a great teammate and very unselfish player which will fit in well with how we play," said Bruce.
Majestic Sales (Tuslaw High School)
Sales finished an impressive career with 1,152 points, 985 rebounds, 150 steals and 112 blocked shots. In her senior season, she averaged 16.2 points per game on 48 percent shooting, as well as averaging 12 rebounds per game. She was named to the All-Ohio Honorable Mention Team, Northeast Inland Second Team, Stark County First Team, Daily Record First Team, Pac-7 First Team, and District IV First Team. "Majestic is a strong forward who is a relentless rebounder on both ends of the floor. She is strong inside and can also step out and shoot the three. Defensively, her athleticism and size will allow her to defend multiple positions," said Bruce.
