(PHILIPPI, WV) - The Walsh University Women's Basketball team put on a powerful performance today to end their West Virginia series. The Cavaliers defeated the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus 75-42 to put them at 17-6 overall on the season and 13-4 in the conference.
Leading the way for the Maroon and Gold was Sophomore Mayci Sales with 19 points. Sales led the team with 9 rebounds and went 9-10 from the field. Contributing to the win for the Cavaliers was Quionche Carter and Tyler Newkirk with 11 points respectively. Carter added 4 assists and 3 boards and went an even 5-5 from the field. Newkirk went 3-4 from behind the arc to lock in 9 of her 11 points. The Cavs took charge and dominated the Battlers by outrebounding them 44-26 overall. The Cavaliers connected on 9 out of 18 3 pointers made and shot 54.5% from the field and took advantage of their offense today with their largest lead of the game coming at the end of the 4th quarter as we outscored the Battlers 35-4.
Jeana Weatherspoon was the leading scorer for the Battlers with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
The Cavaliers are back at home Thursday as they take on the Trojans from Trevecca Nazarene.
