(ELKINS, W. Virginia) - The Walsh women's basketball team played the second game of tonight's double-header where they crushed the Davis & Elkins Senators, 81-48. The Cavs had lost to the Senators just two weeks prior, 69-54. Tonight's win puts Walsh at 16-6 overall and 12-4 in conference action.
The Cavaliers got off to a strong start, outscoring the Senators 29-7 in the first quarter. The Senators attempted to come back in the third quarter, winning that quarter 18-11, but Walsh dominated the fourth (23-7) to secure the win. The Cavaliers shot an impressive 58 percent from the floor and 47 percent from beyond the arc.
Mayci Sales led the Cavalier's offense with 20 points on 10-13 shooting from the field. Jamie Halloran was the only other Walsh player to reach double figures, as she knocked down four 3-pointers in route to 12 points. Brittni Clopton provided solid minutes for the Cavs off the bench, contributing nine points and five rebounds.
Colleena Burdock led the way for the Senators with 17 points on the evening.
The Cavs will complete their second half of the road trip Saturday (Feb. 9) at Alderson Broaddus.
