(ASHLAND, Ohio) – The basketball season came to an end for Walsh today as it fell to top-ranked Ashland 91-63 in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals at Kates Gymnasium this evening. The eighth-seeded Cavaliers end the year at 15-13, while the unbeaten Eagles move on to host the rest of the GLIAC Tournament at 29-0.
Alex Hochstedler paced the Cavaliers with 16 points on the night as the only player in Maroon and Gold in double-figures. She was 6-of-12 overall from the field and made two from behind the arc. Defensively she was impressive with five of the Cavs' 15 steals.
Half of her points came in the first quarter as Walsh battled with Ashland. She accounted for two-thirds of the Cavs' points as they trailed 19-12 after the opening frame.
Ashland featured a quintet in double-figures with Andi Daugherty leading the way with 22 points. She proved difficult to stop for the Cavs as she made 10-of-13 from the floor including both 3-point attempts. She added seven rebounds.
