(ASHLAND, Ohio) - The Walsh women's basketball team is hoping the third time will be the charm in a couple ways as it squares off with No. 1 Ashland tomorrow evening in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals. The Cavaliers enter as the No. 8 seed with a 15-12 overall record. The top-seeded Eagles are unbeaten at 28-0.
This is the third consecutive year Walsh has made the postseason, but each of the last two years, it has ended at the hands of Ashland. With the Cavs also falling to the Eagles twice this year, Walsh is looking to hand the hosts their first loss.
The Cavaliers are 28-22 all-time in the postseason. They are 16-3 at home, 4-16 on the road, and 8-3 on neutral sites in those games. Walsh is 2-2 in GLIAC postseason games. Ashland leads the all-time series with Walsh 16-7.
Brooklyn Wooten leads the team with 13.5 points per game while Brittni Clopton is the top rebounder with 6.1 caroms per contest. The Eagles will counter with Player of the Year candidate Laina Snyder, who averages 17.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per game.
