(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh took a big step in clinching another GLIAC tournament berth with an 80-75 victory over Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 13-11 overall and 9-8 in the GLIAC, while the Panthers dropped to 16-9 overall and 11-7 in the conference.
After a slow first quarter, Walsh bounced their way back into the game, outscoring Ohio Dominican 15-12 in the second, 23-12 in the third, and 24-23 in the fourth.
It wouldn't be until the third quarter when the momentum switched for the Cavs as they took their first lead of the game at the 4:53 marker off of Allison Butler's made free throw to make it a 47-46 contest.
Walsh never looked back, as they held their lead for the remainder of the game to seal the 80-75 victory.
Four players finished with double-figures on the afternoon with Jalynn Graham leading the squad with 16 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Holly Grober registered 14 points, Alex Hochstedler added 12, and Brittni Clopton chipped in 11 points.
Overall, the Cavs shot 48.3 percent from the field, their highest total since making 54 percent against Fairmont State back on November 16.
Walsh plays at No. 1 Ashland on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 5:30 p.m.
