(INDIANAPOLIS) – The regular season starts in the city of one of the holy grounds of basketball as Walsh heads to Indianapolis to play Lewis and UIndy. The pair of games are a part of a Crossover Challenge between the GLIAC and GLVC.
The Cavaliers will open the season against Lewis on Friday at 5:15 p.m. and follow up against UIndy on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. It starts a stretch of four-straight games on the road to start the season. Walsh won't play at home until the eve of Thanksgiving Day when it hosts Clarion.
These games will also be the debut of Head Coach Kate Bruce who became the ninth head coach in program history this fall. It's her first head coaching gig after she served as an assistant at Ohio University and Youngstown State under former Cavalier Bob Boldon.
Coach Bruce and the Cavaliers got a taste of action this past Saturday when they played the Akron Zips in an exhibition. Although Walsh was defeated 81-70, there were many bright spots for the Maroon and Gold. All-GLIAC South Division preseason selection Brooklyn Wooten led all scorers with 24 points and was two rebounds away from a double-double while Jalynn Graham accomplished the feat with 11 points and 10 boards.
