  • Jen Conely Joins Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

    Women’s basketball Head Coach Kate Bruce has announced the addition of Jen Conely to the staff for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Conely joins the Cavaliers after she served as an assistant coach at Ursuline College since last season. Before that, she was an assistant coach at the University of Indianapolis since 2007.

    Walsh Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kate Bruce has announced the signing of four players for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Kimmie Borck (Massillon, Ohio/Perry), Sam Jenkins (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), Payton Pooler (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary), and Mayci Sales (Massillon, Ohio/Tuslaw) have all inked their names to play for the Cavaliers this year.

    The 2016-17 All-GLIAC Teams have been released and Walsh’s Brooklyn Wooten and Jalynn Graham have earned postseason accolades as voted on by the league’s head coaches. Wooten was named a Second Team selection while Graham was named to the All-GLIAC Defensive Team.

    The Walsh women’s basketball team ended the regular season on a high note with a 61-53 victory over Findlay on Senior Night at Alumni Arena. The Cavaliers earned the No. 8 seed in next week’s GLIAC Tournament with a 15-12 overall and 11-9 conference record. The Oilers end the season at 13-15 overall and 7-13 in the conference.

    Walsh hosts Findlay for the final regular season game this Thursday from Alumni Arena. The Cavaliers (14-12, 10-9) have already solidified the No. 8 seed in next week’s GLIAC Tournament and the Oilers (13-14, 7-12) have been eliminated from the post-season, but the Maroon and Gold are attempting to avenge an earlier season loss to the visitors late last month.

The Cavs (9-9, 5-6) were up two with 26 seconds to play, but the Panthers (13-6, 8-4) rallied with four points in the final four seconds to steal the win with a buzzer-beating layup.
