(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – Walsh placed fifth out of 12 teams the NCAA Division II/NAIA portion of the 59th annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course hosted by Cedarville University. In the overall scoring that included Division I and Division III, the Cavaliers placed an impressive ninth out of 41 squads.
Justin Groubert (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) led the pack of Maroon and Gold with a 12th place finish individually. He crossed the finish line with a time of 26:05.56. A total of 87 runners competed in the Division II/NAIA scoring. In the overall event, Groubert finished 27th out of 289 runners.
Next up for Walsh was Naimbai Njerakey (Fr., North Canton, OH/Wheaton, MD) who crossed the line at 26:22.48 for 18th place. Jackson Zaremba (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) just missed out on the top 20 with a time of 26:39.20 for 21st overall. Matt Roshak (Jr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Justin Eddy (Sr., Canton, OH/Perry) rounded out the team scoring for the Cavs with times of 27:03.55 and 27:09.85, respectively.
Malone, Cedarville, Ashland, and Shawnee State all placed ahead of the Cavaliers in the team scoring. Walsh defeated Lake Erie, Tiffin, Rio Grande, Ohio Dominican, Findlay, Mount Vernon Nazarene, and Urbana.
The Cavaliers thin-clads will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Pittsburgh with a scheduled start time of 11:45 a.m.
