Conrad and Knoch Win Titles at Walsh Invite

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's track and field team competed at home for the first time this season in the Walsh Invitational, held Friday (April 12) and Saturday (April 13) at Walsh University. 

The Cavaliers had seven placers in the top three for the day. 

Dante Penza placed third in the shot put, throwing 15.96 meters. 

Bryce Patrick finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a final time of 10:00.70. 

The quartet of Michael Contrucci, Lane Knoch, Owen Read and Corey Harder finished third in the 4x100 relay, totaling a time of 42.82 seconds. 

In the 800 meter run, the Cavaliers swept the top three positions. Josh Conrad won the event, running a 1:53.20, Chandler Wilhelm was second in a 1:54.74 time and Jacob Caniford rounded out the trio with a third place time of 1:54.84. 

Knoch capped his day with a win in the 400 meter hurdles as he matched a NCAA D2 Provo time of 53 seconds flat. 

Ed Walsh was second in the 5000 meter run, running a 15:35.07.

The Cavaliers will be competing in three different states next week including California, Ohio and Georgia.
