Throws Impressive For Men at Mount Union

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) – The Walsh track & field teams had a spectacular day at Mount Union's Toy Drive Invitational to cap the opening weekend of indoor competition. The Cavaliers had multiple placers in various events with records broken and provo marks hit.


On the men's side, Marcus Myers won the men's weight throw easily with a throw of 18.34 meters. Brad Gallitz and Dante Penza were second and third with throws of 16.86 and 15.75 meters, respectively.

Dante Penza had a big day as he not only won the shot put, but hit the NCAA provo mark and set a new G-MAC record in the process with a throw of 16.26 meters. Myers was third in the event with a throw of 15.02 meters.

Varney Pelima was second in the high jump in his debut with a height of 2.00 meters. He was also third in the triple jump with a height of 13.03 meters.

Brandyn Neal won his first race of the season in the 500 meter with a time of 1:07.79. Lane Knoch was third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.47 seconds.
