Men's Tennis Tops Davis & Elkins 7-1

(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) – The Walsh men's tennis team made it a complete sweep of Davis & Elkins across all sports on Good Friday with a 7-1 victory at the Ridgeview Racquet Club. The Cavaliers (7-10, 1-3) have now swept the season series with the Senators (2-11, 0-5).

The Maroon and Gold started the evening off with a quick 3-0 lead after doubles. Vasily Vidmanov and Filipp Kulynych defeated Matthew Mulyadi and Alejandro Meseguer 8-5 at first doubles. Rodrigo Garcia and Heitor Adegas defeated Andrew Shand and Tristram Spitsnaugle 8-4 at seconds. Jonah Carter and Guilherme Carneiro followed with an 8-1 win over Mason Schoonover and Jacob Bowman.

Vidmanov was perfect on the day with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Mulyadi. Garcia needed a tiebreaker to win the opening set 7-6 (7-2), but finished off the second in quick fashion 6-0 over Meseguer at thirds. Adegas won at fourth singles 7-5, 6-0 over Spitsnaugle. Carneiro shutout Bowman 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.

Walsh is back in action tomorrow in a non-conference regional affair against Fairmont State at 11 a.m.
