(CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh men's tennis team fell in its G-MAC opener to Hillsdale by a count of 7-2 at the North Canton Racquet Club on Saturday evening. The Cavaliers fell to 5-7 on the season while the Chargers improved to 5-6.
Both of the Cavaliers' points came in singles action. Vasily Vidmanov secured a win at the first spot on a third set tiebreaker over Milan Mirkovic for the first. After winning the first set 6-4 and falling in the second 7-5, he took the win after taking a 10-8 tiebreaker in the third.
The second came at fifth singles where Heitor Adegas defeated Michael Szabo in similar fashion. He needed two tiebreakers to do the job with a 7-6 win in the first set with a 7-5 tiebreark. Adegas dropped the second set 6-3, but rebounded to win the third set 10-7.
Walsh was close to a third point, but Guilherme Carneiro fell to Gabe Katz 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
The Cavs are back in action tomorrow against Findlay. The match was originally scheduled to be indoors in the morning, but it has since changed to be played outside at the Klekotka Tennis Complex at 2:30 p.m.
