(ALLENDALE, Mich.) – The Walsh men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Cavaliers saw success with players advancing to quarterfinals in various brackets with semifinal appearances in two and the finals in one.
The finals appearance came in the B Doubles Consolation bracket as Filip Kulynych and Tim Bruin found their way to the last match. After they lost to eventual championship bracket winners from Northwood, Kulynych and Bruin defeated Ryan Gase and Austin Mohamedali from Tiffin 8-5.
Afterwards the duo defeated Missouri-St. Louis' pair of Karl Heinrichs and Nathan Pinto. However they couldn't overcome the team of Alex Lescoulie and Jack Geissler who won 8-2.
In the A Doubles Consolation, Clemens Wagner and Jonah Carter advanced to the semifinals. They defeated Northwood's David Reinauer and Brandherm 9-7 in the quarter finals. Their run ended after that when Austin DeBruyne and Mathis Guerre of Ferris State defeated them 8-6.
Bruin also played in the quarterfinals of the B Singles Consolation bracket, but fell 6-3, 6-1.
The Cavaliers are off for almost two weeks until they take on former conference foe Daemen on Saturday, Sept. 30.
