NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Just two weeks ago, the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers handed the Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team their first loss, 3-1 on the road. Thursday (Oct. 10) saw an entirely different contest at Milazzo Field as the Cavaliers avenged the loss to the Battlers in a 6-1 win.
Myles Cornwall opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a goal as Walsh took an early lead. Cornwall assisted on Wesley Burton's goal in the 38th minute, putting Walsh ahead 2-0 at the intermission. Walsh outshot Alderson Broaddus 7-6 in the opening half.
The offense wasn't done in the second half as the Cavaliers scored three times in less than four minutes in a four-goal half. Cornwall struck again in the 68th minute and Burton followed with his second goal two minutes later. In the 72nd minute, Nathan Kett served up Cornwall for his third goal of the night, a hat trick. Alderson Broaddus broke the shutout in the 85th minute with a header. Gary Canam ended the scoring with a goal within the final minute of the night.
Walsh held a 10-6 shot lead in the second half and finished with a 17-12 shot advantage for the evening.
This was the highest scoring game for the Cavaliers since October 24th, 2017 versus Malone.
Ethan Burawa made six saves for his sixth win of the year in goal.
Walsh will host Ohio Valley on Saturday (Oct. 12) at 7:30 PM at Len Milazzo Field.
