Cavs Blank Hougton 2-0 for Ninth Straight Win

(HOUGHTON, N.Y.) - Walsh (10-1, 6-0) remained unbeaten in the American Mideast Conference after shutting out Houghton College (2-7-2) 2-0 today. The win was the ninth straight for the streaking Cavs, their longest winning streak since 1993 when they won 12 straight.

Walsh snapped the scoreless tie at the 57:44 mark when Matt Bly (Jr., 5-10, Bellbrook, NY/HS) scored on pass in goal mouth from Jordan Semple (Jr., 5-7, North Canton, OH/GlenOak). With keeper Mike Kelley (Jr., 6-0, Chagrin Falls, NDCL) facing just one shot on goal, the Highlanders pulled their goalie in the final minutes and Adam Greenwood (Jr., 5-11, Blackpool, England/Lytham St. Annes) scored an empty net goal with 11 seconds to play to ice the win.

For Kelley, it was his seventh shutout.

Walsh looks for its tenth straight win at Daemen College on Monday. Game time is 4 p.m.
