Men's Lacrosse Ranked Fifth in Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference continued to look ahead to the Spring season with the release of the 2019 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour on Monday (Jan. 28) afternoon.

The team was predicted to finish fifth of seven teams, with 17 points. Seton Hill was selected to finish first with Mercyhurst second.

The Cavaliers enter the 2019 season with a core group returning from last season. Fifth-year head coach Alex Skvarch will have three of the top five goal scorers and two out of the top three point totals from last season.  Maurice Kelly (13 goals/20 points) and Kevin McMahon (9 goals/19 points) were second and third, respectively in points scored. Marcus Brown scored ten goals, the third most behind Kelly.

He will also return the team's top specialist and groundball leader, Jake Cieszynski along with one of the leaders in the category of caused turnovers, Jake Selvage.

Three of the four All-Conference players will suit up for the Cavaliers this season including Cieszynski, Selvage and Shane Profio.

Walsh will open the 2019 regular season at Maryville on February 16th.
