INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The final men's basketball Great Midwest Player of the Week were announced on Monday (March 11) and the Walsh Cavaliers were represented for the fifth time.
Redshirt junior Sterling Christy was named Athlete of the Week for the week of the conference tournament.
Christy averaged 13.6 points, 13 rebounds and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 58% overall in the three Cavaliers' victories.
In the quarterfinal, Christy finished with a double-double of 15 points and 20 rebounds. Versus Hillsdale, he shot six-of-nine with 16 points and six rebounds. In the final, he finished just shy of a triple-double with ten points, 13 rebounds and nine blocks. Christy tied a conference record for blocks for the game.
For the season, Christy averages 13.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists per game.
The men's team is NCAA Tournament bound for the first time since joining Division II. The men's team will face Bellarmine at 2:30 PM on Saturday (March 16) at Lewis University.
