(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Walsh University men's basketball team (10-5, 6-2) took down Cedarville (8-7, 5-2) Saturday afternoon 79-64 in a conference match-up at Alumni Arena.
Freshman JT Shumate put on a commanding performance scoring a career-best 30 points, 25 of which came in the second half alone. Shumate was 10 of 17 from the field, and 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. He also led the Cavs in rebounds and assists, with 9 and 6, respectively.
Darryl Straughter buried three three-pointers in route to 15 points on the day. Sterling Christy was the only other Cavalier in double figures, with 13 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out 3 assists.
The Cavs shot 48.3% from the field, while limiting Cedarville to only 38.7% from the floor. Walsh also outscored Cedarville 34-24 in the paint.
Conner TenHove paced the Cedarville offense with 18 points.
Walsh returns to action Saturday, Jan. 12 when they take on cross-town rival Malone at home. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
