(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Walsh Cavaliers men's basketball team dominated the first half (47-23) to secure a 94-71 win over Tiffin Thursday night in conference action.
The Cavaliers went on a 10-point run midway through the first half, connecting on five of six field goals attempts, to push the score to 26-11. The Cavs extended the lead to 35-13 following a Reece Bogan 3-pointer. The Cavaliers held their largest lead of the game heading into halftime, coming out on top of the Dragons 47-23.
Sterling Christy's dominating performance in the paint helped him rack up nine boards and 11 points in the first half alone. He would later go on to add five rebounds and eight points to finish the game with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists.
JT Shumate contributed 20 points on 65% shooting from the field. Darryl Straughter added 16 points to the Cavalier victory. Coming off the bench, Branden Wilkins chipped in 10 points and three assists.
Walsh outrebounded the Dragons by an impressive 42-23, and more than doubled Tiffin's 3-point percentage with a whopping 53% shooting from behind the arc. Walsh also outscored the Dragons in the paint, 52-32.
Shane Waldon led the Dragons with 16 points and six rebounds on the night.
The Cavs return to action Saturday (Jan. 5) when they take on the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville in a tough conference match-up at home. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
