(CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh will host Ohio Dominican for technically its final home game of the season at Tom Benson Stadium on Saturday. The Cavaliers (2-6, 2-2) will play Malone there in the final game of the season, but will be the visitors. The Panthers (4-3, 4-0) will be making their second trip to Canton after defeating the Pioneers there earlier this season.
This will be the 12th meeting between the two teams. The 11 games are the most against any other team on the schedule in program history other than Malone. ODU has won the last five games in the series that has been played yearly since 2012. The Cavaliers last win in the series came in 2009 when Walsh upset the nationally ranked Panthers 23-16. The series started in 2004 with a 41-0 Walsh win over Ohio Dominican.
Walsh is one of the top rushing teams in the conference with an average of 174.6 yards per game on the ground. Only Findlay has a better mark with 287.5 yards per game. It's been an attack by committee for the Cavaliers who have scored 14 rushing touchdownswith five players scoring multiple times. The team's leading rusher is Kalvin Gordon who has 499 yards. Antwand Wilson leads the team with four touchdowns, while Koby Adu-Poku and Paris Salas have three touchdowns each. Deondre Cook has also ran two in despite being a wide receiver.
Special teams has been a bright spot for the Cavaliers this season with two G-MAC Special Teams layers of the Week selections and longest plays. Koby Adu-Poku and Leondre Crosby both were named Players of the Week this season. Kasey Tingler also has three of the longest five field goals made this season, including the two longest at 44 and 43 yards. Cole Krumpak also has three of the top five longest punts including the two longest at 70 and 65 yards. The Cavaliers have also done well at blocking kicks. Walsh has blocked four this season including two last week at Hillsdale. Adu-Poku also has the longest kick return this season at 93 yards in the win against Alderson Broaddus.
