(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Week 4 will feature one of the most storied programs in Division II as Walsh takes on Grand Valley State University at Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers enter this week 0-3 both overall and in the GLIAC while the Lakers are ranked No. 2 in the nation and are unbeaten with a 3-0 mark.
This will wrap up a three-game stretch in which the Cavaliers have faced teams for the first team. This year's games at Hillsdale and against Saginaw Valley were the first times Walsh has lined up against them on the gridiron.
Last week, the Cavs were on the short end of a 27-17 decision against Saginaw Valley State. Walsh fought the Cardinals and threatened late, but turnovers halted drives deep into SVSU territory late in the game.
Tony Tate tied the game for the Cavs late in the second quarter with a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown. Mitchell Ault and Matt Matuska later combined on a 50-yard pass for a touchdown in the fourth to put the Cavaliers down three.
Nick King will lead the defense as one of the most accomplished players in the GLIAC in the early season. He is currently fourth in tackles with 32 and tackles per game with 10.7. Matuska leads the offense and is just shy of the century mark with 97.3 yards per game.
