NORTH CANTON, Ohio - With the 2019 NCAA Division II Tournament opening this past weekend, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced the 2019 All-Midwest Region Teams for both men's and women's basketball.
Freshmen JT Shumate and Quionche Carter were named Second Team All-Midwest Region by the region's sports information directors after being key parts in the Cavaliers' appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
Shumate capped a freshman campaign, where he led the Cavaliers with 18.7 points per game and finished second in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in points per game. Along with 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, Shumate shot 52% from the floor, 43.6% from three and 72.5% from the free throw line. He ranked sixth in shooting percentage, third in three point shooting and fourth in blocks.

Carter was also the leading scorer for the women's team with an average of 17.1 points per game, second best in the conference. She grabbed 6.0 rebounds per game along 2.2 assists a game. Overall, Carter shot 50.5% from the field, and 77.1% from the charity stripe, ranking second and seventh, respectively.
