Lehotay Named Track Athlete of the Year, Walsh has Seven All-Conference Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference unveiled the 2018-19 All-Conference Teams for men and women's indoor track and field.

Overall, 59 awards were given out for the men's team and 50 were distributed for the women's side.

Andra Lehotay was named Track Athlete of the Year by the conference. Two student-athletes earned First Team All-Conference and five were named Second Team All-Conference.

Lehotay also earned First Team All-Conference accolades with her conference championships in the mile and the 800 meter run. She was also part of the distance medley relay that finished second at the conference meet.

Mariah Porter was the second Walsh member of the First Team after her G-MAC Indoor title in the weight throw.

Bre Bakan, Brianna Coy, Alexa Leppelmeier, Jetaiya Smith and Malia Turley all were named Second Team All-Conference.

Bakan, Leppelmeier and Smith all joined Lehotay on the silver medal distance medley relay team. Smith also had a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the conference meet.

Coy earned Second Team recognition as a second place finisher in the 5000 meter run.

Malia Turley was the last Second Team honoree with a second place position in the weight throw.
