No. 11 Walsh Does Well At Kent State

(KENT, Ohio) – The No. 11 Walsh women's track team was back in action at the Kent State Tune-Up this weekend and saw success with multiple placers. In total, nine Cavaliers helped the Maroon and Gold finish in the top eight six times in four events.

Kaitlyn Barber had the best finish of the day as she finished second in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.94 meters. She tied the first place participant in the height clearance, but it took her more attempts to do so and finished second as a result.

Malia Turley had a big day in the field as she finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 15.96 meters. Olivia King was seventh in the same event with a throw of 14.66 meters.

Two Cavaliers placed In another event as well. Alexa Leppelmeier finished fifth in the mile run with a time of 5:13.43. Bre Bakan was seventh in the same event with a time of 5:16.44.

Leppelmeier wasn't finished. The 4x400 meter relay team of Raquel Jones, Megan Soehnlen, Leppelmeier, and Jetaiya Smith finished sixth with a time of 4:10.43.

With the indoor season winding down, Walsh now gears up for the G-MAC Championships next week. Hillsdale will serve as the host for the two-day event that starts Friday.
