Women's Track & Field Now No. 7 In The Nation

(NEW ORLEANS) – The new USTFCCCA Division II National Championship Rankings for Week 2 have been released and Walsh finds itself continuing to be on the rise. After their first top 10 appearance in the polls, the Cavaliers rose two spots to No. 7 for this week.

The Cavaliers improved upon their point total by 12.3 to come in with 76.35 for this week's rankings. A large part of this involved Sarah Berger and the distance medley relay. Berger ran the indoor mile for the first time this season and put up third-best time in the nation as she clocked in at 4:45.2 at SPIRE.

The distance medley relay team, which consisted of Berger, Andra Lehotay, Jetaiya Smith, and newcomer Megan Soehnlen, ran for the first time this season and also put up the third-best time in the nation at 11:37.53.

Both events easily cleared the provisional marks for NCAA Division II. For the DMR team, three of the four members were on last year's team that ran the fourth-fastest time in Division II history.

The Cavaliers track & field squad will be back in action this weekend when it takes part in the Jim Wuske Meet at Mount Union on Saturday.
