(GENEVA/FINDLAY, Ohio) – The Walsh track & field teams sent split squads to a pair of meets with the Cavs participating in the SPIRE Midwest Open as well as the Findlay Classic & Elite Throws meets.
There were multiple placers both locations, but perhaps the best result came from SPIRE in the women's distance medley relay. After a fourth place finish in the national championships with the fourth-best time in Division II history, the Cavs picked up where they left off and won with the best time in Division II so far this year.
This time Andra Lehotay, Jetaiya Smith, Megan Soenlen, and Sarah Berger made up the quartet and easily won by over 21 seconds with a time of 11:37.53 against 13 other schools. The time is just .1 of a second from the automatic qualification for the national championships.
Katie Mokros finished fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.83. She also finished eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.72.
In the 600 meter run, Smith and Soehnlen both placed. Smith clocked in at 1:41.85 to finish fifth, while Soenlen finished at 1:42.91 to place eighth.
In a loaded mile run race, Berger finished fourth behind a pair of Division I stars and a national champion. Her time was 4:45.52, easily surpassing the provo time and less than a second away from the automatic mark. Lehotay finished eighth in the event with a time of 4:56.16.
At Findlay, Alexandra Rodgers was seventh in the pentathlon with a point total of 2,684.
