(ALLIANCE, Ohio) – The Walsh track & field team was in action today at nearby Mount Union who hosted its annual Jim Wuske Invitational. On the women's side, Cavaliers finished in the top three in nine events.
In the field, All-American Kaitlyn Barber easily won the pole vault with a height of 3.81 meters, or 12 feet 6 inches. Morissa Mallory was second in the shot put with a distance of 13.35 meters, or 43 feet 9 ½ inches. Kendra Zbinovec was third with a distance of 12.94 meters, or 42 5 ¼ inches.
On the track, the Cavaliers' team of Cowles, Smith, Mokros, and Lien Torfs finished first in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:46.28. Brianna Coy finished second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:58.18.
Bre Bakan finished second in the mile run with a time of 5:20.63. Maggie Kroll was third with a time of 5:21.48. Jetaiya Smith was second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.19. Katie Mokros was second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.87 seconds.
The Cavs will return to action next week at the Grand Valley Big Meet.
