Women's Golf Battles Wind in Opening Round in Kentucky

(LEXINGTON, KY) - The Walsh University Women's Golf Team competed in the first round of the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invite this afternoon in Lexington, Kentucky. After an hour and a half delay due to frost, the tournament finally got underway. Battling the wind, the Cavaliers would go on to post a first round team total of 341. 

Michele Vlacovsky would lead the pack for the Cavaliers after an opening round of 78 which has her tied for 18th out of 127 players. Vlacovsky was in the zone as she fired an even par 36 on her last 9 holes. Kayleigh McHugh was next in line for the Cavs after posting a 2 over 38 on the back nine to card an 81 on the day. Rounding out the top top five for the Maroon and Gold were Kerra Loomis, Amanda Scala and Alexis Green each shooting 91 respectively. 

The University of Findlay is leading the event with a team total of 304. Northwood University's Taylor Harding carded an impressive opening round of 69 and is leading the field by 3 strokes. 

The Cavaliers return to the links tomorrow for a 10:30 shotgun for the final round.
